And in a way that armed conflicts in its various forms lead to human losses, corruption is no less dangerous, considering that the acquisition by senior officials of the largest part of public resources to serve their personal interests would deprive the vulnerable classes of society of the vital requirements for their survival, These effects are most noticeable in poor countries.

Given the nature of this crossborder crime, it was not surprising to note the multiplication of efforts at the international level to combat it, especially through the conclusion of relevant international agreements, perhaps the most prominent of which is the United Nations Convention against Corruption of 2003
