The Annales School changed the historians' perception from research in events to research in structures, and from research in political and military history to research in social and economic history and mentalities, then this school was able over eight decades to cognitively adapt to the epistemological turns that social science has known in the century The twentieth, with the ability to formulate concepts, reformulate and define them, and find exits to crises in historical writing.

It also sought to produce distinguished research and studies by employing concepts and tools borrowed from sociology, economics, and politics.

Consequently, history was influenced by the method and theories circulating in various sciences, and the purpose was to break away from the traditional historical writing of history and to study man and society in all their dimensions, and in all their historical stations an empirical and objective scientific study similar to the studies carried out in sciences such as physics and mathematics.
