Abstract EN

The research was done to determine the degree of farmers’ benefit who participated in the extension activities for the program of groundwater management and irrigation development , to identify the degree of contribution of the studied extension activities to overcoming the problems facing the respondents’ farmers in relation to the development of irrigation, to determine the total degree of success of the extension activities for the program of the groundwater management and irrigation development, to determine the relationship between the total degree of success of the extension activities for the program of groundwater management and irrigation development and the studied independent variables, and to define the extent of their contribution to explaining the variance.

the research sample comprised 175 farmers who participated and involved in the extension activities for the program of groundwater management and irrigation development.

data was collected via personal interview using a questionnaire form during January and February 2022, to analyze the data, tabular presentation was used i.e., replicates, percentages, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, mean degree, simple correlation coefficient, and multiple and gradient correlational and regression analysis model.

the research concluded the following important results: 1.

21.7% of the respondents had a low benefit, 41.1% moderate benefit and 37.2% of the respondents had a high benefit from the extension activities for the program of groundwater management and irrigation development.

42.8% of the respondents fell into the high category of the contribution of extension activities in overcoming the problems facing farmers in relation to irrigation development, 40.6% fell into the moderate category, and 16.6% fell into the low category.

18.3% of the respondents came under the low category of the total degree of success of extension activities for the program of groundwater management and irrigation development, 42.9% came under the moderate category, and 38.8% came under the high category.

there was a significant relationship at 0.01 significance level between: number of family members, number of family members working in agriculture, degree of education of the respondent, size of agricultural holding, the degree of participation in extension activities, the degree of official community participation, and the degree of willingness to change and between the total degree of success of extension activities for the program of groundwater management and irrigation development, at 0.05 significance lever for the variable of size of animal holding.

the calculated "f" ratio (80.727) which was significant at 0.01 significance level, and the value of the modified coefficient of determination was 0.655, meaning there were four independent variables out of the total number of independent variables that contribute about 65.5% of the total variance in the total degree of success of extension activities for the program of groundwater management and irrigation development in the study area.
