This research aims at revealing the legal ruling on the issue of proving the entry of the lunar month through astronomical calculations alone, clarifying the opinions of the jurists and showing their evidence on this subject, trying to analyze and discuss them, and explaining some matters in question.

This research used the descriptive, analytical, inductive and comparative method.

The researcher concluded that it is necessary to adopt the astronomical calculation, because of the accuracy of astronomical calculations, and because the appearance of the moon, even for a moment, marks the entry of the new month, let a lone the new advancements Astronomy has seen which makes it different from astrology that had prevailed for too long in the past
