Abstract EN

The presented study aims on identifying the degree to which physical education teachers use teaching skills from the viewpoint of their school principals.

the researchers used in this study the descriptive approach using the survey method.

the study sample consisted of 47 principals in the education board district of Bani-Obaid, Irbid, Jordan, representing 92.15% of the overall study population.

to achieve the study objectives, the researchers prepared a questionnaire of 62 items, which were spread over 7 fields.

the results of the study indicated that the degree of physical education teacher’s use of teaching competencies from the point of view of their school principals came with moderate score considering all items and fields of the given questionnaire.

the fields came in the following order : first rank : personal and social traits.

second rank : professional competencies.

third rank: knowledge competencies.

fourth rank : planning competencies.

fifth rank : assessment competencies.

sixth rank : technology competencies and learning resources.

seventh rank : advancing professional competencies.

the results of the study also showed that there were no statistically significant differences due to the variables of the school's educational level, gender, and experience.

the results also showed that there were statistically significant differences due to the educational degree variable and in favor of bachelor’s degree.

as a result, the researchers recommend of the necessity of adopting academic courses for the physical education class in a similar way of other classes.
