Abstract EN

This study is focused on the settings of Talip Apaydin’s “Sari Traktör” (the yellow tractor) and the level of success it achieved as being his first novel.

prominent among Turkish novels, Sari Traktör is the first literary work dealing with modern technology and highlighting the need for it in villages.

thus, this paper offers an analysis of its settings as a primary narrative element and draws a contrast between village and city settings.

the novel also reflects human-setting interaction, its impact on psychological states and the way the setting shifts due to different human perceptions.

therefore, this paper touches on the main settings portrayed in the village in contrast to the city.

not to be confined to the static settings, the study delves into the most dynamic setting in the novel, i.e., the tractor, being the main narrative element.

it also presents the function and descriptive techniques of settings in general, which bring images into vivid life in the reader's mind.
