Abstract EN

This study of the development of the urban morphology of Tarim city, in the valley of Hadhramaut, Yemen, aims to specify the elements that contributed to the growth and expansion of the city by identifying the construction of Tarim through the four morphological stages that formed the general morphological shape of the city.

it shows that the morphology of the city differed from one stage to the next which is a testament to the fact that such changes have aided in the growth and development of the city throughout each stage.

this spans from the place of its initial core up until the final stage of development when the size of the town increased to an area size of about 1930.32 hectare.

the urban expansion of Tarim has identified the spatial directions of the projected future growth of the city up until the year of 2025 in the following directions : NW of ‘Edeed valley, NE & N of Damoon valley, SW of the highlands of the Hadhramaut Plateau, and NW towards Thahab valley.
