Abstract EN

The current study seeks to identify the nature and objectives of Egyptian public affairs issues in the trending hashtags in the twitter network during the year 2021.

the study relied on the content analysis tool of 50 trending hashtags.

the results of the study revealed the diversity of Egyptian public affairs issues raised in the hashtags between social, political, economic, cultural and sports.

the study also found that one of the most important goals of raising issues of Egyptian public affairs in the hashtags is the media and news (about events), criticism of specific institutions or people, getting to know the opinions and interests of Egyptians, carrying out a behavior (boycott-volunteering charitable work), mobilizing public opinion to change policies and law reform, celebration and praise of specific people or institutions, support, solidarity and advocacy.
