Abstract EN

the study aimed to identify the direction of the minimum temperature change in the northern border region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during the two decades (1998-2007) and (2008-2017).

And identify the frequency of cold waves in the region during the period (1998-2017), in addition to identifying weather elements accompanying cold waves and the predictability of cold waves in the northern border region.

The study also aimed to reveal the impact of cold waves on human health in the northern border region.

The study resulted in a steady rise in the mean minimum temperatures in the study area, which is evident during the years of the second decade (2008-2017).

Also, we can see more cold waves in Turaif than Arar.

It is also concentrated in three consecutive seasons: Fall, Winter and Spring.

As the cold waves in Turaif are affected by five climatic elements: (minimum temperature, relative humidity, pressure, sky- cover, and precipitation), while in Arar, they are affected only by the minimum temperature.

The findings of the study also showed a statistically significant correlation between the frequency of cold waves in the northern border region and the numbers of clinic reviewers (eyes, nose, ear, throat, chest diseases, digestive system, skin diseases, and bone diseases).
