Abstract EN

This study is concerned with revealing how the Bidun issue is represented in the Kuwaiti novel.

It attempts to approach narrative texts not in terms of their aesthetics but in terms of the implicit cultural systems regarding this issue.

Thus, the narrative texts are not only literary but also social and cultural discourses.

The relationship between the narratives texts and culture is manifested in three discourses: The discourse of the domination of cultural systems that stems generally from the cultural traditions of the society.

The discourse of confronting cultural systems, which reinforces their domination, and finally the discourse of the implicit systems, which is a rebellion against the prevailing norms.

The last two constitute specific systems that represent individual visions and distance itself from the vision of the dominant collective of culture.
