Abstract EN

This jurisprudential (Fiqh) study is entitled (zakat of honey: a comparative jurisprudential study).

honey in this study means one that is consumed as food and medicine, and not for trade.

scholars have differed in opinion regarding this issue in the past and present.

i have collected opinions of different scholars on this issue from books of approved jurisprudence schools.

i have also reviewed famous Sunnah books, multivolume jurisprudence books, books of tafseer and commentaries of hadith.

i have found that the disagreement among scholars could be narrowed down to two opposite opinions.

the first opinion is that the zakat of honey is obligatory, and the second is that it is not obligatory.

evidences of both groups were collected from the Qur’an, Sunnah, @Athar, logical reasoning, and scholarly discussions on these evidences.

i have concluded that the second opinion outweighs the first opinion due to the strength of its evidence, and the weakness found in the evidence used by the proponents of the first opinion.

moreover, the strongest evidence reported was explicit enough to stand as a proof for taking one-tenth of honey for the sake of zakat; but was given in return for protecting the valley as reported by Omar B.

the research included an introduction in which i explained the importance of the research and its aims, methodology and approach.

it also includes four sections in which i reviewed the scholarly opinions, their evidence, and discussion of the evidence.

then, i stated the right opinion of all (Rajih), and the Nisab of honey according to those who say that it is obligatory, and the amount of its zakat.

i ask Allah to make this research beneficial, to make it sincerely for his sake, and to forgive my shortcomings.
