Abstract EN

This study analyses a type of address found in the Qur'an, and that is when the explicitly mentioned addressees are the disbelievers, as is found in chapter 66, verse 7; and in chapter 109 (the whole of which addresses the disbelievers).

the study is made up of three part.

the first one defines 'addressing' and its types (in Arabic grammar).

the second discusses the address found in chapter 66, verse 7, and the third concerns the address in chapter 109.

the study aims to highlight the importance of addressing the disbelievers as a qur'anic style of discourse, and to analyze its meanings and connotations, and its stylistic features, aims, and rhetorical purposes.

the study led to several inferences and conclusions with regards to the importance of the qur'anic style of address and its different addressees, its rhetorical functions, and its stylistic features which point to the Qur'an's inimitable nature.
