Agricultural development occupies an important place in Algeria's general economic policy, Translated in various successive development programs, The aim of this research is to know the most important agricultural development programs adopted by Algeria during the period 2009 to 2019 to achieve the development of the agricultural and rural sector and improve the level of food security, This is by addressing the following major problem: to what extent have the agricultural development programmes adopted by Algeria achieved the goal of food security? .

Through this research paper we have reached a number of results, most notably: recording a significant improvement in the various indicators of food security, especially the food abundance index of local agricultural production compared to previous years, but it is still below the level of ambitions and goals drawn despite the huge amounts and potential sought for the agricultural sector
