Abstract EN

The aim of the present study is to show the role of consumption as an ideology guiding reshaping the family bond in Algeria and its resulting social transformations which were previously associated with a political system which built on the socialist model and the distribution of wealth on the base of 'reward', then its connection with modernity and finally with postmodernism.

It is between socialist ideology and modernist ideology that consumption ideology takes place within a society that has developed composition between what is traditional, based on kinship relations with regard to material, and symbolic in the presence of religion in the organization of society, and what is modern based on individualism and official institutions.

Between this and that, the Algerian family structure shakes to move from uni-dimensional family to a multi-dimensional one.
