The metaphor has aroused the interest of rhetoricians since antiquity, so they strove to study it, define it, show its aesthetic side, present its rhetorical force with a rivalry to divide it into subcategories, clarify its purpose by showing its relationship to other figures of speech.

indeed, metaphor has a great importance in the literary work because of the functions that it contains and which give the meaning an aesthetic and expressive values.

moreover, the metaphor is introduced in modern linguistic theory (argumentative) as a means of persuasion in view of its effect on language and thought.

the aim of this study is to join the rhetorical heritage represented by the rhetorical metaphor, with modern linguistics represented in the argumentative and pragmatic metaphor, contained in the linguistic means that the speaker uses in order to orient his speech and to achieve its argumentative objectives.

thus, the argumentative metaphor is the most common type since it is closely related to the intentions of the speakers and their contexts of communication.
