Abstract EN

The Tafilalet region has been historically one of the most important cultural centers of Morocco, due to its spiritual dimension and historical depth.

it occupied a special site that attracted many scholars and gave birth to men of thought and literature who contributed in the renaissance of the region both scientific and religious.

the region was the focus of special attention by the Moroccan Sultans of Sa'dis and Alawites who revived its historical, urban and cultural renaissance.

they established schools and libraries and supplied its libraries with reference books in all disciplines.

the region is still possessing a large number of libraries, rich in manuscripts and documents ; a sign of the scientific richness the region knew during the previous eras.

these libraries, public and private ; although the majority of them have been looted ; the remaining ones are still containing treasures in all disciplines, whether in interpretation (Tafssir), jurisprudence (Fiqh), assets (Ossoul) or the Arabic language and history, descendents (al nwazil) and others, dating back to different historical periods extending from a period before the sixteenth century AD to the beginning of the twentieth century.

this outcome of the manuscript heritage of historical, scientific, artistic, religious and aesthetic value will inevitably contribute to rewriting the history of the Sijilmassa region, and paving the way for researchers and academics in all disciplines, to achieve this heritage and employ it in various development fields.
