Algeria tried to develop the performance of local assembly generally and municipalities particulary by introducing modern technologies and switching to electronic management, which seeks primarily to move from paper-based to electronic dealing.

Municipalities are now providing many electronic services, such as obtaining civil status documents, electronic biometric passport, and electronic national biometric identification card.

These services contributed to achieving citizen satisfaction, reducing burdens and eliminating bureaucracy, which resulted in improving the performance of municipalities
