The December 1960 demonstrations were always considered the decisive turning point in the events of the Algerian revolution, as the Algerian people threw their weight on the side of the National Liberation Front, which organized and accompanied the demonstrations to reject General de Gaulle's project (Algerian Algeria).

As General de Gaulle planned during his visit to Algeria starting from December 9th, he wanted to be accompanied by a great media aura that Algeria had not witnessed, focusing on television channels - which were modern at the time - radio stations and written newspapers, and targeting more the English-speaking press, especially the American and British ones, to influence world opinion, document the moments of the visit and transmit it to the whole world, especially the General Assembly of the United Nations, which programmed the Algerian issue on the agenda of its session on December 25th at the request of the Afro-Asian bloc.

Everyone realized that France was on the verge of a diplomatic defeat, and saw that the media had an important role in falsifying facts and influencing discussion and voting.
