By the implementation of a number of reforms, including the repeal of the law number 72-02 of February 10, 1972 on the law of prisons and the re-education of prisoners, and by the issuing of a new law under number 05-04 of February 6, 2005 on Ordinance No.

72-02 of February 10, 1972 on the code of the penitentiary organization and re-education of prisoners, the Algerian legislator aims at erasing the negative vision that society has on the prisoner.

As such, he/she works on the implementation of training and rehabilitation programs, as well as various integration systems, and the guarantee of a post-release protection of the prisoners, as a complementary means of reinforcing the feeling of accountability towards themselves and towards the community guarantying an appeasement regain enabling them a psychological equilibrium preventing them from recidivism.

The study has shown the failure of the state and its public institutions to guarantee protection to released prisoners because of the shortage of the material resources of the existing institutions.

To overcome these weaknesses, the assistance that civil society organizations and business leaders could bring especially in terms of employment, as well as the removal of the many obstacles that hinder dealing with prisoners and their families, as well as the financing of released prisoners protecting programs could be very helpful.
