لطالما اقتربت الكتابات الماركسية حول تاريخ الفلسفة من فلسفة فيورباخ للإنسان باعتبارها حلقة الوصل بين فلسفة هيجل و الفهم المادي للتاريخويعتبر فيورباخ الوحيد الذي قدم النقد الايجابي للإنسان و الطبيعية ذلك لأن علاقة الإنسان بالطبيعة هي علاقة مباشرة.
و يرى فيورباخ أن الاختلاف الأساسي بين الإنسان و الحيوان هو الوعي.
أما المفهوم الإسلامي للإنسان فهو يتميز بالعقل.
