Diplomacy plays an important role in the field of international relations, where these relations are established, and affairs of concern to states are addressed, for this reason, diplomatic activity is currently the means required to enhance cooperation between states in various fields, on the basis of full respect for national sovereignty, freedom and independence of peoples.

The severing of diplomatic relations is one of the most important reasons for the end of the diplomatic mission, as the establishment of any permanent diplomatic mission requires an agreement between two countries, and this is stipulated in the Vienna Convention in its second article.

As for severing relations, it is unilateral, although it affects two diplomatic missions.

It is also considered the most dangerous manifestation of bad relations.
