Victimology is considered a relatively recent science; it concerns the scientific study of the victim.

Scholars - as well as those affiliated with criminal justice agencies - have neglected the victim, because their attention was always focused on the criminal.

The latter has always been surrounded by a set of guarantees that ensured his/her rights in a way that preserves the dignity of human beings.

While the victim has remained neglected and forgotten for decades.

The victimology focuses on analysing the personality of the victim and his/her relationship with the culprit, as well as the factors that made this person a victim of the crime over others.

Finally, the reason behind the adoption of victimology is to strengthen the criminal policy in the field of crime prevention.
