اختلفت أنظار المفسرين قديما و حديثا في تحديد مفهوم الفطرة، خاصة بعد أن واجه العقل المسلم مسائل فقهية استجدت على واقع المسلمين، كمعاملة أبناء أهل الذمة مثلا، فصار لزاما على علماء المسلمين أن يحرروا معنى هذا المصطلح، مع مراعاة ملابسات الواقع الجديد.
و قد اخترت تفسير التحرير و التنوير، لتسليط الضوء على هذه المسألة من زاويتين و هما بيان مفهوم الفطرة و إبراز المظاهر الخادمة لها.

The attention of scholars, ancient and modern, differed in defining the concept of instinct, especially after the Muslim mind faced jurisprudential issues that have arisen in the reality of Muslims, such as the treatment of dhimmis, for example, and I have chosen the interpretation of Ibn Ashour, to as a model for this study.
