If the term of cinema ontology refers to writing and theorizing about a specific cinematic term or about a particular film idea, then a problem of setting the “term” of non-fiction films and agreeing on an all-encompassing expression in the Arabic language has for a long time been the subject of deep ontological controversy, with a wide research delinquency Arab filmmakers and academics tend to adopt the terms “recording” and “documentary” although this use is often linked to “getting used” more than “adopting” based on understanding and awareness.

And in this research paper, the researcher seeks to approach the ontological approach to the appropriate nomenclature for non-realistic films, where the researcher showed the precedence of the term recording over documentary, as well as the appropriateness of adopting the term documentary at the present time at the theoretical level at least.
