Abstract EN

This study aims to elucidate deixis in Ibn al-Muqaffa’s “al-Adab al-Kabir” and to provide a pragmatic reading of its types and intentions as it is considered to be the first degree of pragmatic research that contributes in shaping the discourse and its interrelationship.

hence, we are trying to answer the following questions : what is the concept of deixis ? what are its types and pragmatic intentions in the “al-Adab al-Kabeer” ?.

in this research paper, we have come to identify deixis and its diversity in the context of literary discourse, and how the author of the “al-Adab al-Kabeer” used it to clarify his intentions and achieve communication with the reader.
