Abstract EN

This study aims at mentioning popular proverbs wisdom words and sayings with religious dimension used in Tlemcen and the different themes they deal with, in addition to knowing their usage across generations.

we collected these proverbs and wisdom words from elderly people who acquired them from previous generations and began to use them.

the results show that the religious dimension of these proverbs includes many topics, such as livelihood, satisfaction, patience, and good manners.

whereas the questionnaire, which was administered for knowing the usage of proverbs across generations, demonstrated that usage and knowledge of proverbs increase as the age increases.
