The Algerian legislator restricted the functions of the judicial police to the officers and non-commissioned officers of the military security services after they had wide qualities qualitatively and regionally, by investigating and searching for all crimes at the national level, to limit them to crimes affecting the security of the state only according to law No.

17-07 of march 27, 2017, as a result, the work of this body, which negatively affected the performance of the judicial police in general, has been paralyzed.

however, the legislator continued to retract the performance of the seizure without this device, and returned to him the powers that he had before the amendment, lifting all the restrictions that hindered the performance of his duties, to include his competence to investigate various crimes as it was previously, and the amendment also touched the aspect related to the follow-up of its members the breaches they commit, and assign the task of examining these breaches to the indictment chamber in Algiers, according to special procedures.

this study aims to introduce the judicial police officers to the interests of military security and determine the powers granted to them by law after they were previously restricted, to emphasize the role of this apparatus in combating crime, because the amendment that lifted restrictions on it is considered a benign step taken by the legislator to strengthen the performance of the police in combating crime.
