This paper aims to highlight the crime of recruiting and engaging childrensin armed conflict, flr the reason yhat this phenomenon is widespread and prominent in armed conflicts around the world, such as the conflict in southern Sudan, Yemen, and Syria, where we have come to wonder how effective the rules of international law are to limit and punish such crimes.

the norms of international criminal law and international humanitarian law have criminalized the phenomenon of the recruitment and exploitation of children during armed conflicts, and the perpetrators have been considered war criminals in many instruments, in particular the Geneva convention 3 and 4 of 1949 and its additional protocols of 1977, in addition to the 1989 convention on the rights of the child and its optional protocol on the involvement of children in armed conflict of 2000, the international community has mandated the international criminal court to prosecute and the perperators of this crime.
