Violations of the rights of the Rohingya Muslim minority in Myanmar have increased during the last decade and which have threatened their presence in the country.

this situation made it necessary for the united nations to intervene to provide protection for this minority through its institutions concerned with human rights, but with various efforts that did not ultimately lead to the required protection.

the human rights council made significant efforts : condemnations, recommendations, investigations, and collecting and preserving evidence to facilitate criminal follow-up.

however, the security council failed to take any of the measures it could take under chapter VII, to stop these violations that constitute genocide and crimes against humanity for several reasons.
