Ethnic and multi-ethnic countries use strategies and policies to achieve political and social stability and coexistence among its components.

These strategies vary according to the nature of the political system, the degree of its democracy, and the quality of minority demands and their goal, whether it is evolutionary or separatist.

And the multiplicity of these strategies between assimilation, integration, coercion to dominate, consensus or eradication and ethnic cleansing.

Ethiopia has represented one of the most ethnically and linguistically pluralistic countries, and since its establishment has sought to accommodate these minorities, led by the Oromo, into the crucible of the Amharic identity, which differs with it in religion, language and history.
