In addition to the scientific information it provides the reader, the explanatory text could sometimes constitute an intercultural universe par excellence.
In secondary school, this type of text occupies a very important place where it is used a lot.
This importance given to the explanatory text aims to enrich the linguistic and encyclopedic knowledge of learners of French as a foreign language.
However, through this article, we wish to direct the attention of didacticians towards the intercultural potential contained in the explanatory discourse, which can thus be exploited as a medium for learning the language from an intercultural perspective.
Through this contribution, we aim to highlight the intercultural load of the explanatory text through a qualitative analysis of the explanatory texts of the first-year secondary school textbook ; which analysis is based on signs of cultural belonging.
The results obtained conclude that there is a real intercultural potential of the explanatory text allowing the learner to put in contact various information referring to the cultures mentioned in the texts.

Outre les informations scientifiques qu’il apporte au lecteur, le texte explicatif pourrait parfois constituer un univers interculturel par excellence.
au secondaire, ce type de texte occupe une place très importante où il est fortement exploité.
cette importance accordée au texte explicatif a pour but d’enrichir les connaissances linguistiques et encyclopédiques des apprenants en français langue étrangère.
toutefois, par le biais de cet article, nous souhaitons orienter l’attention des didacticiens vers le potentiel interculturel que renferme le discours explicatif, pouvant ainsi être exploité comme support d’apprentissage de la langue dans une perspective interculturelle.
nous visons à travers cette contribution à mettre en exergue la charge interculturelle du texte explicatif à travers une analyse qualitative des textes explicatifs du manuel scolaire de première année secondaire ; laquelle analyse se base sur les signes d’appartenance culturelle.
les résultats obtenus concluent à l’existence d’un réel potentiel interculturel du texte explicatif permettant à l’apprenant de mettre en contact diverses informations renvoyant aux cultures citées dans les textes.
