Abstract EN

This research is concerned with examining the extent to which the local authorities of countries contribute to embodying the path of sustainable development based on the available capabilities and the extent to which they involve their citizens and the private sector in drawing up their sustainable vision.

This study is also unique in highlighting Algeria’s experience in the field of containing its local authorities for sustainable development applications, stressing the most important challenges they face and presenting possible alternatives to overcome these obstacles.

Finally, it was concluded that the local authorities in Algeria have significant powers to move forward to enhance their sustainable path, but the application of these powers collides with many economic, social, administrative, political and environmental difficulties, which prompted them to formulate a set of solutions that could constitute a proposal seriously to support the sustainable development of local authorities in Algeria
