The novel is the most persistent literary genre, so we find that the Algerian novel has opened up to multiple forms of literary genres, which made it enter the stage of modernity and the adventure of experimentation, which means transgression, deviation, and breaking the ready-made and enshrined templates in the narrative discourse, so experimentation touched all artistic elements.

the composition of the novelist text, including the character who plays an important role in moving its events, as it took several manifestations and was presented in new molds and took on different dimensions.

we devoted our study to Yasmina Khadra's novel “the preferred night over day,” highlighting the experimental tendency of the character in it.
