Abstract EN

This study aims to show that the communicative approach in teaching Arabic to non-native speakers focuses on using the language for various purposes and in various situations, by making the foreign learner able to communicate in Arabic.

owning the language in the communicative approach is seen as a result of a situation, and specifically of multiple competencies : interactive, logical, cognitive, social, cultural and other competencies, and all of these competencies require knowledge of the target language.

the study concluded that the communicative method is the most effective way to teach the Arabic language to non-native speakers, because what were considered deficiencies in it can be overlooked in choosing the educational material, curricula and programs.

this will only be possible by focusing on the learner and his needs and purposes of learning the language.
