The ancient Arab linguists excelled in studying their language and striving hard to gain familiarity with its various aspects.

they left us a linguistic heritage with a high degree of scientific and methodological accuracy, comparable in value and prestige to modern western linguistic production, and even surpassing it in some cases.

therefore, this study aims to know the roots of pragmatics in the Arab linguistic heritage through the texts of a sample of Arab scholars, and to know the extent to which Arab linguists are interested in issues of pragmatics, and how they invested in its concepts and frameworks at the time.

linguists have dealt with study and extensive analysis the most important issues touched upon by contemporary linguistic research, and what they share with ancient Arabic rhetoric, which in turn overlaps with pragmatic research with regard to contemporary linguistics.
