Geographical indications, as a broad and invented term, are a quality guarantee since they are the ID that shows the origin of the known goods and products.

They are among the elements that contribute to realizing sustainable development; this proves they are multifunctional due to their economic importance in goods marketing.

Due to the increase of the means of violating the geographical indications, the Algerian Legislator gave importance to this issue through criminalizing imitation since it is an international phenomenon that can be detected only through all the means deployed by the Algerian government in the sake of reinforcing the penal protection mechanisms from one side, and reinforcing control from another side.
