Abstract EN

The aim of this research consists of a reading of theories of psychoanalysis and psychoanalytically inspired or psychoanalytically oriented psychotherapies, which are also called psychodynamic psychotherapies by American authors, through an overview of the common theoretical principles between the psychological orientations that go back to Sigmund Freud, the doctor who proclaimed the existence of the unconscious and the Oedipus complex and used them in psychotherapy.

But criticism of psychoanalysis has led psychotherapists, while retaining Freudian theoretical principles, to modify therapeutic practice by proposing, in particular, brief psychoanalytic psychotherapies in which the psychoanalyst not only understands the patient's psychological processes but also provides support and empathy.
