Abstract EN

This study presents an explanation of how the Arab critic Shukri Ayyad dealt with one of the problems of literary criticism, namely: Is literary criticism a science or an art? And in order for the presentation to encompass all aspects of the studied issue, we tried to present an introduction in it in which we dealt with the importance of the subject being studied, then we moved to presenting the ideas of the critic « Shukri Ayyad, who” divided scientific criticism into two parts: the scientific ones arising from the classical trend, and the scientific ones arising from the romantic trend, then Comparing it between them, and finally striving to develop a scientific conception of literary taste.
