Arabic Abstract

يعود نسب مؤرخنا شمس الدين الجزري إلى مدينة آمد و هو دمشقي المولد و الوفاة (ت 739 ه) ألف كتابا واحدا في التاريخ و الموسوم ب "حوادث الزمان و أنبائه و وفيات الأكابر و الأعيان من أبنائه"، لقد حظي هذا الكتاب باهتمام المعاصرين و اللاحقين للجزري فاعتمده الكثير منهم مصدرا لبعض معلوماتهم كما وجهوا نقدا له في بعض الجوانب.

اهتم المعاصرون من عرب و مستشرقون منذ عام ١٩٢٨ بدراسة كتاب الجزري و تباينت آراؤهم و أعمالهم حول هذا الكتاب تسمية و إطارا زمنيا لأحداثه و تقديرا لقيمته بين المصنفات التاريخية الإسلامية.

يهدف هذا البحث لاستعراض الجهود العلمية حول الجزري و كتابه و بيان نتائجها و قيمتها، و لبيان ذلك و تقديم إضافة حول هذه الجهود ؛ اقتضت طبيعة البحث دراسة النقاط التالية : -أسرة الجزري و مغادرتها الجزيرة الفراتية إلى مصر و الشام زمانها و أسبابها.

-حياة المؤرخ الجزري، ثقافته و نشاطاته.

-مخطوطات كتابه و من عمل عليها.

-تقييم أعمال المحققين لأجزاء من مخطوطات كتاب حوادث الزمان و بيان الإيجابيات و السلبيات.

-الإشارة إلى الأجزاء التي لم يتم تحقيقها من تاريخ الجزري و بعض ما تضمنته من أخبار عن منطقة الجزيرة الفراتية.

English Abstract

Our damascene historian al-Gazarī is originated from the old city of Amed.

he was born in Damascus, and it is where he passed away (d.

739 AH).

al-Gazarī wrote a single book titled "Hawādit az-Zamān wa-Anbā ihi wa-Wafayāt al-Akābir min Abnā'ihi", with obituaries of its great noble sons".

this book received the attention of al-Gazaris contemporaries and successors and was used by many of them as a resource of information, and they have also criticized some aspects of the book.

since 1928, Arab contemporaries and orientalists showed interest in starting from its title and its time frame ending by its value amongst Islamic historical works.

this research aims to review the scientific efforts around al-Gazarī and his book, indicating its effects and value.

in order to demonstrate that and to provide an addendum about these efforts the nature of the research required the study of the following points : -the date and the reasons behind al-Gazari's family departure from the al-Djazīra to Egypt and the levant.

-the life of the al-Gazarī including his culture and activities.

-al-Gazaris manuscripts of his book and the people who worked on them.

-evaluating parts of the investigators' work on al-Gazari's manuscripts for his book "Hawādit az-Zaman" and stating the advantages and the disadvantages.

-referring to the unvalidated parts of al-Gazari's history and its news about the al-Djazīra region.
