تشكل الصورة الفنية أحد عناصر البناء الفني للنصوص الشعرية، فقد حظيت باهتمام الشعراء والنقاد في مختلف العصور، وإن تعددت وجهات نظر النقاد حول مفهومها.
وشغلت الصورة الفنية أفكار النقاد قديما وحديثا، وقد شاع هذا المصطلح في مؤلفاتهم ولكن الدارس لها سيقف على مفاهيم متعددة فلا يوجد تعريف موحد تم الاتفاق عليه، ولعل السبب في ذلك يعود إلى اختلاف وجهات نظرهم وإلى طبيعة مناهجهم النقدية.
إن أهمية موضوع بحثنا (الصورة الشعرية عند الراحل محمد مردان ...
ديوان ما بعد منال مثالا) تأتي من خلال مسألتين: الأولى تخص الصورة الفنية حيث أولى النقاد أهمية قصوى للصورة الشعرية في الشعر الحديث، والثانية تأتي من جانب الشعر الحديث، فقد أهتم النقاد بالشعر الحديث لأنه أثار إشكاليات عدة بدأ بالغموض والقناع الذي يسقطه الشاعر على شخصيات تراثية وتاريخية التي أصبحت رموزا في داخل النصوص الشعرية فضلا على ذلك اختلاف الأجيال الشعرية من الناحية الرؤية أولا واستخدام الأدوات الشعرية ثانيا.

The artistic image constitutes one of the elements of the artistic construction of poetic texts.
it has received the attention of poets and critics in different eras, even if the views of critics varied about its concept.
the term is in their books, but the student will stand on multiple concepts, as there is no unified definition that has been agreed upon, and perhaps the fault in that is due to their different views and the nature of their critical approaches.
