English Abstract

Scientific and technical progress has served humanity greatly.

In a way never before seen, it has facilitated cooperation between states and intertwining human societies.

It has turned the big world into a small »village» where the impact of certain events spread very quickly.

Events that negatively impact specific areas touch the lives of those living in the furthest of places.

A recent and serious example is the propagation of COVID-19.

This pandemic has fueled the race among international pharmaceutical companies in the relentless pursuit of a head start in registering exceptional patents to reach the vaccine that puts an end to the pandemic.

This research is a modest attempt to review the exclusive right for drug patents in light of the COVID19- pandemic.

It investigates the fairness of this right, which is protected in international conventions and domestic laws.

It searches for legal solutions far from the control of drug companies seeking to possess these patents.

It takes into consideration factors that mitigate the effects of this exclusive right given the heavy burden it places on the public health of countries unable to provide adequate care due to high costs
