The Eurozone economy experienced the biggest shake-up, due to the Greek sovereign debt crisis, which was a consequence of the 2008 global financial crisis, and it was the beginning of the crisis in Greece, due to the public debt in 2010, and then spread to other weak countries such as Portugal, Ireland, Spain, Italy, etc.

He proposed the idea of Greece leaving the economic zone, so Greece requested the European Union, and the International Monetary Fund to provide loans as assistance in order to avoid the risk of bankruptcy due to its default on debt payment.

Therefore, this research paper attempts to understand the causes and repercussions of this crisis on the euro area, and what measures have been taken to avoid the damage that will be caused to the European region and its currency as a global currency.
