Abstract EN

From the late of 1980 to the present day, Algeria has undergone a series of political reforms initiated by the political system by its ruling elites, at various levels and in various settings.

Recent Algerian political history reveals that the first reform initiative coincided with the third wave of democratic transition in the late 1980s resulting in the 1998 constitutional reform, which is rightly the first building block of political reforms, and reinforced by several reform initiatives, most recently after was the changes of 22 February 2019, where the current President of Republic Abdul Majid Tibon announced a package of reforms dedicated to constitutional review by the late of 2020.
