Abstract EN

The political circumstances that Algeria has experienced after the popular movement, which began since 22 February 2019, have forced sweeping changes, notably the 2020 constitutional amendment which adopted a constitutional court instead of the constitutional council.

this meant a shift from political to judicial oversight in the area of oversight of the constitutionality of laws.

this paper examines the course and motives of change, as well as the study of the constitutional court as a new institution in the recent constitutional amendment, and examines the effectiveness of the constitutional court.

the study, concludes that the change touched only the name of the device, transformed from a council to a court with an increase of powers limited in effectiveness.
