This theoretical study aims to compare three main concepts in social sciences in general, namely: growth, development and sustainable development, by tracking the emergence of these terms, and the various definitions provided by researchers and specialists in the field.

the importance of this study lies in showing the difference between these three concepts, especially for students and new researchers.

among the most important results reached is that achieving economic growth does not necessarily represent achieving development but that development necessarily requires economic growth, while the concept of sustainable development includes both growth and development in addition to other social and cultural dimensions.
