Abstract EN

Like other country, Algeria has seen its institutions of memory appear (libraries, museums and archives centers) during different periods.

appeared for a long time; libraries hold a rich scientific, cultural and artistic documentary heritage.

Algeria also has an official documentary heritage resulting from the activity of the various administrations since the ottoman presence in Algeria today.

Museums, meanwhile; have emerged as institutions during the colonial period and hold wealth and an inestimable heritage reflecting aspects of the life of Algerian society.

this heritage is managed by official institutions created for this purpose and have evolved appropriately at times and inadequate in others, such as the case of archives.

this is what we try to demonstrate through this article.

this article presents the institutions of memory in our country by their creation, their development through time, places and buildings, finally the institutions in charge of the management and the preservation of this memory as well as its attributions.
