2000.

International humanitarian law and international human rights law provide great protection for deported children who are exploited in non-international armed conflicts for compulsory recruitment into the ranks of the fighting forces.

The four Geneva Conventions of 1949 work, by means of the third common article between them, to provide special protection for this group, as well as for the second Optional Protocol to it for the year 1977 on non-international conflicts, in Article 314 thereof.

In addition, international human rights law also provided special protection for children from recruitment in non-international armed conflicts through Article 38 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child of 1989, as well as the protocol attached thereto regarding the participation of children in armed conflicts of the year 2000.
