Abstract EN

The study dealt with the issue of institutional digital repositories as a tool through which university libraries can manage and publish the university's intellectual production In the digital format and with expanded access to him, trying to identify the roles and challenges that libraries must play to fulfill this role.

We conducted a field study at the central library of the University of Haji Lakhdar Batna, and we relied on the interview conducted with the official of the central library and the official in charge of the warehouse to get an idea of the tasks and roles that the library plays in introducing the university's intellectual production in light of the institutional digital repository.

Haji Lakhdar Batna is among the first warehouses established at the university level in Algeria within the ISTeMAG Maghreb project, However, it did not achieve the goals and objectives for which it was established, the most important of which is improving access to university intellectual production in institutions of higher education and scientific research, as it lacks a clear institutional policy for deposit, with a failure on the part of the library in the process of promoting the digital repository and spreading the culture of awareness of it in the academic community.
