Abstract EN

This study aims, through Selim Sarkis's book “secret of kingdom” to spotlight the political transformations together with the social changes in the ottoman empire during the reign of Sultan Abdul-Aziz 1861-1876, he study also reviews the relationship of the ottoman empire with the European countries that were pressuring it to complete the reforms and achieve the supposed renaissance according to the western approach and the European perspective, following the secular principles, which aimed to weaken and eliminate the ottoman empire despite the apparent assistance.

one of the most important findings of this study is the increase of westernization and secularization during the reign of Sultan Abdul-Aziz with the failure of his effort and attempts towards reform on the European style.
