Abstract EN

The Research's Subject is about Characteristics and limitations of the Slums Housing in Hafr Al-Batin Governorate in Saudi Arabia.

The study identified the state and environmental features of uunplanned Settlements in the city of Hafr al-Batin.

in addition, described most important living conditions in these areas, as well as to identify the nature of social and economic situations.

the study also aimed to provide recommendations that would develop slums areas in the research community.

this research conducted by applying descriptive approach using survey method in four slums districts in Hafr al-Batin, namely : al-Dibiyya, al-Wajaan, An Nayfiyah and al-Gult.

by using purposive sampling the researcher selected (438) samples.

the field study concluded many results, including: 60.5% of houses of these four slums areas are built with modern building materials is the prevalent pattern for a large proportion of the housing areas in research areas, reaching 60.5%, mainly all residents in four districts have electricity, water and sanitation services.

in addition, the average of width of most streets' districts is between five to ten meters.

most of houses of research community are very close, which made the housing lose its privacy, and (63.5%) of research' samples attributed their slums housing grounds as very cheap.

50.9% of study populations described slums as unsafe areas.
